Understand the 4Cs, Purpose & Value Before You Buy
Diamonds are more than just precious stones — they hold deep emotional, financial, and symbolic value. People choose diamonds for different purposes, and understanding your purpose helps you select the right quality, cut, shape, and budget.
Among all the 4Cs, the Cut is the most important because it controls how brilliantly a diamond reflects light. Even a high-color and high-clarity diamond can look dull if the cut is poor.
The "color" of a white diamond actually refers to its lack of color. Diamond color is graded using the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) scale, which runs from D to Z.
D–F (Colorless): These diamonds are the rarest and most valuable, showing virtually no discernible color. A "D" grade is considered absolutely colorless.
G–J (Near Colorless): These stones appear colorless face-up, especially when mounted. Very slight traces of color may be detected by an expert when viewed loose. They offer excellent value.
K–Z (Faint to Light Yellow/Brown): Color is visible to the naked eye, offering a lower price point.
Diamonds can also come in intense hues like blue, pink, red, or canary yellow. These are called Fancy Color Diamonds. Unlike white diamonds, where lack of color is prized, the value of a Fancy Color Diamond increases with the intensity and saturation of its color.
Every diamond is forged over billions of years deep within the earth under intense heat and pressure. During this natural process, the diamond retains certain birthmarks. These internal marks are called Inclusions, and external marks are called Blemishes.
Carat is weight-based.
Example: A diamond that weighs 0.4 grams equals 2 carats (0.4 ÷ 0.2 = 2).
Conversion Rule: 1 carat = 0.2 grams (200 milligrams).
In Vedic Astrology, Diamond is ruled by Planet Venus (Shukra) — the planet of love, beauty, luxury, marriage, creativity, and material success.
Wearing a diamond is believed to strengthen Venus and attract the positive effects of the planet into a person’s life.
